Abstract

The article aims at conducting an analysis of the role of social-educational institutions, in which specific activities are developed in order to promote the sociocultural inclusion of adolescents living in conditions of social vulnerability. We intend to understand the potential of this institutional experience in the modification of the developmental trajectories of the adolescents, having in view the social channeling and the emergence of new personal meanings. We follow the perspective of Pierre Bourdieu, giving special consideration to the notion of habitus. The article provides a basis for the reflection on the role of the socio-educational institutions in the rupture or maintenance of persistent habitus and concludes by pinpointing the circumstances in which such social institutions may mediate the promotion of the development of social competence and autonomy.
