Psychoanalysis, the Drive and the Collectivity: Listening to Brazilian History Projected by Bacurau

This article aims to materialize research in extramural psychoanalysis on the cinematographic work Bacurau (2019). This film was heard as a clinical case, considering it a potent artistic production capable of interpretations based on the concepts of clinical, political, and social Psychoanalysis. From that point on, the messages transmitted by Bacurau’s story unfolded to promote theoretical dialogues about the possibilities of life in the collective, the violent elements inherent in the colonization processes in Brazil, and respect for otherness.
Transfers by authors with this artistic expression mobilized other and new meanings on the themes explored. For this reason, it articulates how to listen to Bacurau and its parallels with Brazilian History can produce socially significant knowledge for the invention of worlds founded on respect.
