A representabilidade da estigmatização de São Francisco nas Ordens Terceiras Franciscanas

Resumo:A vida de São Francisco de Assis foi representada pela arte de diversas formas através dos séculos, e teve destaque na imaginária luso-brasileira do período colonial. Dentre as diversas representações do santo, uma das devoções mais populares ainda hoje no mundo, algumas se destacaram ocupando os retábulos-mores das igrejas conventuais e das Ordens Terceiras. A lenda franciscana que traça um relato em paralelo à vida de Jesus Cristo, tem seu ápice e passagem mais famosa em ?Impressio Sacrorum Stigmatum in corpore sanct Francisi?, ou n??A estigmatização de São Francisco?, o momento em que, durante uma visão no monte Alverne, Francisco recebe as chagas de Cristo em seu próprio corpo, como um semelhante na fé e na dor. Este trabalho pretende analisar as diversas representações artísticas desde o século XIII, dessa passagem da vida do santo italiano, e como, num crescente dramático, ela culminou até a iconografia do Cristo Seráfico, figura tão singular e emblemática nas igrejas terceiras franciscanas.

Abstract:The life of St. Francis of Assisi has been represented by art in many ways throughout the centuries, and has been featured in the Luso-Brazilian devotional sculptures of the colonial period. Among the various representations of the saint, one of the most popular devotions still today in the world, some stood out occupying the altarpieces of the conventual churches and the Third Orders. The Franciscan legend that draws a story in parallel to the life of Jesus Christ has its apex and most famous passage in?Impressio Sacrorum Stigmatum in Corpore Sanct Francisi? or ?The Stigmatization of St. Francis?, the moment when, during a vision on Mount Alverne, Francis receives the wounds of Christ in his own body, as one similar in faith and pain. This work aims to analyze the various artistic representations since the thirteenth century, of this passage from the life of the italian saint, and how, in a dramatic crescent, it culminated until the iconography of the Seraphic Christ, so singular and emblematic figure in the Third Franciscan churches.
